Winter Retreat | Eric

2011 Winter Retreat | Pigeon Forge, TN
January 16, 2011

Another retreat, time to get away from the real world, to recharge your batteries and to reconnect with God. But this one has been different from those in the past. I know most of the speakers are trying to connect with the kids, so it doesn't hit me like it normally does. What really has my attention is this book Jason has given me, 'Simple Life', by Rainer & Rainer. I've only read the Introduction and part of Chapter 1 and it has already made me start thinking about my life and what I have done and are doing.
They talk about 4 areas to work on: time, relationships, money & God (reminded me of Dave Ramsey). These areas are one that I know have lacking or nonexistent. They say you have to make plans, but you also have to move on the plans, get in motion and stay in motion. But don't make the mistake of trying to do a complete transformation overnight, instead make is a gradual evolution. Start with small steps, and keep building, but don't, always keep evolving. "Lord, help me evolve into the man you want me to be."
Dr. Ergun Caner made a great point this morning about being a warrior for God. I want to be a warrior! But to do that I have to take 'me' out of the equation, never take credit. After all, it's God who have gave us the 'want to' and the ability. It bothers me when people brag about what good they do. I think a person should do good because it is the right thing to do, the 'God' thing do.
"Lord, help me to be your man, to live accordingly to your will. Thank you for your mercy and grace."
